Many Go Natural English learners like you have asked me how to become fluent in English. To answer your question, fluency requires practice!
The next question is: how can we practice? What if I don’t live in an English-speaking country? Or, what if I do live in an English-speaking country but it’s still difficult to find someone to practice with?
Here’s what I did and I suggest you do it too. When I was learning a second and third language (like Portuguese and Japanese), I signed up for online lessons on Skype. I learned from a native-speaker teacher. I didn’t have to leave my home to meet with my teacher, and I could schedule my lesson for any time I wanted.
In today’s lesson, I talk about my experience with one online English language lesson provider, Lingoda. They actually asked me to try out their Skype lessons as if I was an English learner so that I could share my real opinion of their service.
In the video, I talk about the things that I liked and to be fair, the things that I didn’t like.
Some of the things I liked:
- You get an English teacher and an advisor to help you
- You get English lesson materials to download, study with and keep forever
- My teacher was helpful and fun to talk with
Some of the things I didn’t like:
- You have to schedule your lessons at least 48 hours in advance
- You can not choose your teacher the first time
